November 2009 BioMalaysia 2009
   

Kuala Lumpur, November 2009. 8,000 trade visitors from 40 countries and 100 exhibitors gathered at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) for the BioMalaysia 2009 on 17th November 2009. Jointly organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp) and ProTemp Exhibitions, BioMalaysia is Malaysia’s premier and largest biotechnology conference and exhibition.

Themed ‘Accelerating Commercialisation in Biotechnology’, BioMalaysia 2009 served as a strategic platform for the global and Malaysian Biotechnology sector to discuss and share practical solutions as well as to forge collaboration between participants.

The three-day event saw some groundbreaking announcements for the Malaysian biotechnology industry such as the handing over of five ISO9001:2008 certifications to BiotechCorp by certification body, Moody International Certification.

Through the designated biotechnology sectors n the economic zones such as Iskandar Malaysia and the Northern Corridor Economic Region, Malaysia is rapidly growing to be the choice biotechnology investment hub.

BiotechCorp has thus far nurtured a network of 101 BioNexus companies in the agriculture, healthcare and industrial biotechnology sectors under the BioNexus Status Programme. 30 of which have investments from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the US, India, China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.

Supported by the National Biotechnology Policy and BiotechCorp, the Malaysian Biotechnology industry is on track to accelerate commercialisation in biotechnology by 2011.
